Level Design Document Brief: The Cursed Child
The newest brief for the Module XB2001 we were set the task of designing a level to fit into an existing game franchise. I have chosen to add a bonus level onto the Lego Harry Potter Collection, as an added bonus for buying the Collection instead of the two separate games.
To start my level design, I began my researching into the Cursed Child book, and decided to summarise the first 6 scenes of the play.
Scene 1
Kings Cross station, Harry walks with Lily on his shoulders, whilst James and Albus push their trollies, followed by Ginny.
James and Albus argue about being in Gryffindor or Slytherin.
They all run at the portal to Platform 9 3/4s.
Scene 2
Platform 9 3/4s, Hogwarts Express has arrived.
Hermione and Ron arrive with Rose. Lily runs to Ron, who uses a Weasley's Wizarding Wheeze to make his breath stink and then steals her nose.
Albus talks to Harry about Slytherin worries.
Albus, James and Rose get on the train and Lily chases it out of the station.
Scene 3
Hogwarts Express. Albus and Rose walk along carriage and encounter the Trolley Witch.
Open a compartment and find Scorpius sat on his own, who offers to share his sweets with them.
Rose and Scorpius argue, Rose leaves Albus with Scorpius.
Scene 4
In Great Hall, people talk to Albus. The Sorting Hat appears and sorts Rose into Gryffindor, Scorpius into Slytherin and Albus into Slytherin.
Cuts to flying lesson with Madam Hooch, everyone but Albus can make the broom fly.
Back to 9 3/4s. A year later. Albus argues with his Dad and storms onto the train.
Malfoy approaches Harry and they argue about dispelling rumours of Scorpius' parentage.
Rose gets accepted onto the Quidditch team.
Potions class, Albus isn't very good.
Back to 9 3/4s. Arguing again. Albus sets fire to permission slip for Hogsmeade.
Scorpius' Mum dies, Lily is sorted into Gryffindor.
Scene 5
Ministry of Magic. Time Turner is found. Harry and Hermione discuss, and argue about paperwork.
Scene 6
Potter Home. Amos and Harry argue. Amos wants to use Time Turner to bring back Cedric. Albus is snooping and overhears. Delphi appears and introduces herself to Albus, making him jump.
