The text drafts for the GDD of Glazed: a window cleaning mobile game

  • Game Title: Glazed / Squeegee

  • Intended Game Systems: Apple, Android, Playlink

  • Target age of players: 5+

  • Intended ESRB rating: E (Everybody)

Game Summary:

Become the best Window Cleaner in the area! Build up your business by getting your first few jobs in the housing estates and work your way up to cleaning sky scrapers with the help of your friends! As your reputation builds, unlock new areas and expand your window cleaning territory. Earn reputation by achieving the highest star ratings at the end of each job. You can also use these reputation points to unlock better equipment, sturdier ladders and higher quality sponges! But be careful, the higher you climb up, the more your ladder will be effected by the wind – tilt your device left to right to counteract the wind. Use your device’s screen to swipe to clean dirt off the window, and tap on the windows to squirt cleaning fluids onto the window.

Play solo or join your friends on the PlayLink. Compete with your friends to clean the most windows or team up to become the best business in the city! Be aware of your competition, they’ll try to steal your customers, or shake your ladder to make it harder for you. Don’t let them sabotage your business empire!

Game Flow:

Players will play in a third person camera view as a Window Cleaner. It is a light-hearted style of game, set in a city with the end goal being to have the biggest Window Cleaning Empire possible (in the campaign mode this being to finish all of the levels)

The Player has 2 main challenges to contend with: other Competitor Companies and the Weather. Competitors can wobble your ladders, make your cleaner fluid super soapy and make windows you’ve cleaned dirty again. However, you can throw your sponges at them by tapping on them to make them run off. The weather also effects the player, the wind can wobble your ladders and make you fall off, meaning you have to climb back up – spending more time and effecting your reputation rating.

The Campaign mode of the game is structured in zones and levels. Players must complete a certain amount of levels with a high enough Reputation Rating to be able to unlock other zones. E.g. Getting 3 stars on levels 1 – 5 will give the player enough Reputation Points to be able to expand from the Housing Estate into the Inner City if they win the boss battle. As the levels progress, the challenges become harder. At the end of every zone (the fifth level of the area) a boss battle will commence. The player will compete against the top Window Cleaner from the Competitor Company in that area to see who can clean the windows the fastest.
